TAO's target databases should be updated before planning each observing session, to incorporate ephemeris from newly computed orbits, new discoveries, new targets of interest to the telescope users, etc.

Most of the updates to the moving object database can be automatically performed by script UpdateEph. Ephemerides for objects listed in the NEO Confirmation Page (NEOCP) may be automatically downloaded using script NEOCPMon. Ephemerides for newly discovered moving objects for which only a few astrometric observations are available may be automatically downloaded from the New Object Ephemeris Generator using script NOEG. New targets can be added to the fixed object database with the help of program addFixedTargets. The whole update process is illustrated by the following diagram:
